The motor-fuel industry features a wide array of terminology. Here are the U.S. EPA’s definitions of the types of UST operators:
- Class A The individual who focuses on the statutory and regulatory requirements related to operating and maintaining the UST system
- Class B The individual who is responsible for field implementation of applicable UST regulatory requirements and the day-to-day aspects of operating, maintaining and record keeping for USTs at one or more facilities
- Class C The individual who is the first line of response to events indicating emergency conditions or responding to alarms
